if you have a character whose name is a mystery, revealing their name will always disappoint a large number of people

in bionicle there was a guy called “the makuta,” with “makuta” being a species name. there were other named makutas but he was just “the makuta” and he was the head honcho bad guy forever

and then they revealed his name to be teridax and he instantly stopped being mysterious or scary in any way because we knew his name and his name was kinda shitty

so when they reveal the doctor’s name to be like geoff or colin and everyone’s gonna be all “baww why is the doctor named X I wanted him to be named “bitchabitch cumberbitch” or whatever it’s just gonna be a fuckin mess

I always think mysteries are better left unrevealed. Unless you’ve had the answer in mind from the very start, trying to explain it later will always end in the worst.
